Résumé
The aim of the present study is to investigate the
possibility of magnetotelluric and gravity methods for
exploration of potential at west Beni Suef area, a 2-D
magnetotelluric and 2-D inversion of existing gravity data
are described. Integrating the results obtained from the
application of the different interpretation techniques to
the Bouguer map, aided by geological information reveals the
structure elements operate
in the study area.
Structurally, the area reveals a diversity of
dominating
pattern of faults that explain the tectonic history. The
N-S, NE-SW and NW-SE is the main trend in the study area.
From the analysis of 2D gravity modeling,
we noticed that there is a major basin found in southeastern
part of the study area, this basin
may be suitable for petroleum accumulations.
According the resistivity and the density changes, we can
display four main geoelectrical layers. The depth of
basement layer changes from
2683 m in the western part to 4658 m at
the eastern side of the study area.
The 2-D MT
model confirms with interpretation of seismic cross section,
that describes the structure and lithology of the study area
after Mohamed et al. (2017).
