First step of this field trip, is to visit the Tipasa, a beautiful coastal city located at 60 km West of Algiers. Many Punic vestiges, Romans, Christians and Africans attest the rich history of this city, then on the way back, we will take the old road that links Tipasa to Algiers. We will make a stop at Le Mausolée royal de Maurétanie, surnamed also Le Tombeau de la Chrétienne. This monument was built on the Numid era, located at Beni Rached village at 10 km east of Tipasa city.
The second step of the field trip consists to a scientific visit and from the Mausolée royal de Maurétanie, located on the Sahel anticline, we enjoy the view of the beautiful Mitidja basin with its two active borders (south and north). Seismologist and Geologist will give some details about the evolution of this neogenic basin and its seismotectonic context.
