Le Docteur Ahmed Khalil a présenté deux séminaires le premier porte sur le thème "Historical Review of National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), Egypt" et le deuxième intitulé " Concept and some applications of Magnetotelluric method." au niveau de la bibliothèque du CRAAG Dimanche 28 Mai 2017 à 11h00.




Geophysics is the application of physical principles to the study of the Earth’s structure and physical properties. Exploration or applied geophysical techniques are used to determine the physical properties of the subsurface from measurements made by instrumentation placed on the surface or in boreholes in the ground. One of the most effective geophysical methods, which can be used for exploration, is the magnetotelluric (MT) method. It is an electromagnetic technique that images the earth's subsurface by measuring natural variations of electrical (E) and magnetic (H) fields at the earth's surface to determine the distribution of electric resistivity within the earth. In the last years, the use of magnetotelluric technique for resource exploration and exploitation has increased significantly and there is a need for the geophysicist to better understand the theory, application and interpretation of (MT) method. This will provide the geophysicists with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and manage cost-effective MT field programs and to understand the data processing and interpretation issues. The (MT) can be structured to hydrocarbon, earthquake precursor research, geothermal and mineral exploration.
