CALL FOR PAPERS

We invite researchers, students, and professionals to submit their abstracts to SURE-MED 2025. Share your innovative research, case studies, and insights to advance the understanding of seismic hazards and resilience in the Mediterranean region. Submit your abstract today and become part of this important event by contributing to one of the five SURE-MED sessions.

Submission Guidelines
      • Short abstracts (maximum 350 words) should address one or more of the five SURE-MED 2025 sessions.

      • Abstracts must be written in English and prepared using the official SURE-MED Abstract Template, available on the website.

      • Submit your abstract through the registration link to the symposium.

      • All submissions will be evaluated by the SURE-MED Scientific Committee.

      • You may submit up to two abstracts during the symposium.

      • Authors of accepted short abstracts will be invited to present their work either through a 12-minute PowerPoint presentation followed by a 3-minute Q&A session, or as an e-Poster.

      • Templates for PowerPoint presentations and e-Posters will be provided to authors after their abstracts are accepted.

      • At least one author of each accepted short abstract must confirm their participation before September 15 to ensure inclusion in the final conference program.

      • Authors of accepted abstracts will also be invited to prepare a 4-page short paper (extended abstract) for publication in the SURE-MED 2025 conference proceedings. This step is optional.

      • Your accepted short paper may be published in the conference proceedings without the requirement to attend or present at the conference, either in person or online (see Registration).

      • It is not necessary to submit an extended abstract for publication in the proceedings in order to attend and present at the conference.

 

In this conference, two types of publications will be produced:

  1. Book of Abstracts – A compilation of one-page abstracts formatted according to the provided template.

  2. Proceedings – A collection of extended abstracts (4 pages) featuring the best selected contributions. These extended abstracts will be considered for publication in a proceedings volume with an ISBN, subject to the authors’ approval.

The SURE-MED 2025 committees highly encourage PhD students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to submit their work. Presenting your research to peers and experts is one of the best ways to receive constructive feedback and grow as a scholar. Remember, impactful science is often built from many small but meaningful contributions—your work does not need to be a major milestone to be valuable.

To support you, we have included comprehensive guidance within the abstract template to help you prepare a clear and compelling abstract and short paper. This could be the first step toward your next published article.

Please ensure you:

  • Carefully follow the provided guidelines.

  • Adhere to publication ethics, including proper referencing and citation of relevant works.

  • Avoid both intentional and unintentional plagiarism (SURE-MED uses plagiarism detection software).

  • Acknowledge all individuals and institutions who contributed to your research.

To recognize outstanding contributions, SURE-MED 2025 will present Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster awards for each session. The first author of the best oral presentation and the best poster in each session will receive an award and certificate.

All presentations and posters will be evaluated by the session chairs and members of the Scientific Committee based on the quality of research, clarity of presentation, and overall impact. Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony.
